The electric patterns and pressures are already
mounting and modifying the pre-existing patterns.
The question arises how much resistance is in the
old patterns, and how much we care to reinforce
that resistance. But it is quite unnecessary to
deliberate about the present situation, as if our job
were to hold it like a Maginot line, thus allowing the
Panzer forces to move round us on all sides. Is it
not likely that the control of change consists in the
anticipation of change, that it is necessary to go a
little bit faster than the actual changes themselves
in order to be in control?
